Buy a net, save a life

September 25, 2008 at 8:11 am 3 comments

In the poorest parts of the world, where effective window screens are lacking, insecticide-treated bed nets are arguably the most cost-effective way to prevent malaria transmission. One bed net costs just $10 to buy and deliver to individuals in need. Studies show that use of insecticide-treated bed nets can reduce transmission as much as 90% in areas with high coverage rates. Money raised by Nothing But Nets is used to purchase bed nets and distribute them in countries and communities in greatest need.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I started a campaign to raise money for Nothing but Nets. I’m trying to spread the word because the more people that know about it, the more money I can raise.

By using Triond, I plan to help raise money to donate to Nothing But Nets. Triond is a website that allows its members to upload content to several different partner sites. For uploading, Triond pays their members 50% of the ad revenue generated by that content. For the entire month of October 2008, I will donate all of the money I earn from my content to the Nothing But Nets campaign. So, all you have to do to help out is visit those sites, and tell others to do the same.

Please visit my livejournal for more information.
