Citizen philanthropy funds classrooms
October 25, 2007
from the site:
“DonorsChoose.org is a simple way to provide students in need with resources that our public schools often lack. At this not-for-profit web site, teachers submit project proposals for materials or experiences their students need to learn. These ideas become classroom reality when concerned individuals, whom we call Citizen Philanthropists, choose projects to fund.”
A DonorsChoose.org gift certificate would make a wonderful holiday “gift that gives back” for someone special. Your recipient will be able to use the gift certificate to fund their choice of project(s). Alternately, you can fund a project in someone’s honor. Donations are tax-deductible, of course.
In 2007, donors from all walks of life have funded $4,215,709 worth of resources for students in need.

What a great idea - I like ethical presents that give something back.

I am a mother of five, four still here at home. We ran for years from a domestic abuse situation. In doing so it badly destroyed my credit standing.
We now have a restraining order against the children’s father, but all of these bill collectors are coming at me full force with old debt as well as my current bill collectors.
I am trying to repair our lives, with my new husband, but seems every time I turn around somone is taking everything we saved.
If there is anyone out there who has more money than they know what to do with, here is a good cause.
Christmas is the least of my worries with electric bills and phone bills and car payments ect…
Everything is past due, lawsuits are running rampid and we are just loosing the battle.
Anyone that can help, please let me know.
Thanks
